This truth hit me hard in a moment I will forever carry. A young man, full of promise from a nearby college, entered our care with what we would later identify as a strain of meningitis. He tragically passed and his family couldn't be there. I, a stranger, was entrusted to deliver the news to his utterly unprepared friends and loved ones. I made around twenty phone calls that day. Twenty phone calls, with each one the weight of the moment and responsibility growing heavier.
On that pivotal day, my identity as a nurse and understanding what in involves grew. Being a nurse is not just about medical procedures; it's about empathy, support, and compassion.
As the Clinical Director of National Accounts for Urology and Critical Care at BD,
I lead with passion and purpose. I'm committed to reshaping education and
training to confront challenges like limited resources and nursing turnover.
