
Gregory J. Hayes serves as a director of BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company), a global medical technology company headquartered in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey. Hayes has been a member of the board since 2025.
Hayes currently serves as executive chairman of the board of directors of RTX Corporation (RTX), a leading aerospace and defense company. Hayes joined the RTX board in 2020, was elected chairman of the board in 2021 and began serving as RTX’s executive chairman in 2024 at the conclusion of his tenure as RTX’s chief executive officer. Prior to that, Hayes had a nearly 21-year career at United Technologies Corporation (UTC), culminating in his appointment to chief executive officer in 2014 and chairman in 2016. As CEO of UTC, Hayes was instrumental in the formation of RTX—the result of the 2020 merger of UTC’s aerospace businesses, Pratt & Whitney and Collins Aerospace, with Raytheon Company. Hayes, who joined UTC in 1999 through its merger with the Sundstrand Corporation, also served as UTC’s chief financial officer from 2008 to 2014.
Hayes serves on the board of directors of Phillips 66 Company. He is also chairman of the board of NAF (the National Academy Foundation).
As a long-time chief executive, Hayes brings substantial strategic, financial and operational expertise to the BD Board, along with corporate governance experience and insights from his service on public company boards.
